Veteran sculptor still producing fresh,
vibrant works for an eager clientele
Kay at Work
Kay working on "Lady In Waiting"

The works of distinguished Jamaican sculptor Kay Sullivan have been delighting admirers at home and abroad for decades, yet they continue to be fresh and vibrant as they capture the very spirit of the Jamaican people. In affordable bronze resin, they range from the tiny figurines of her "Little People" series (typical Jamaican personas) to larger than life national monuments. In between are her popular table top "Mood Pieces", amazingly lifelike busts of public and private personalities, life sized fountains and garden sculptures, including a much loved collection of children delighting in nature, and a continuous flow of specially commissioned works for trophies, prizes and special monuments.

Kay Sullivan is a member of the Jamaica Guild of Artists, an ardent animal lover, and is committed to a serious study of the scriptures. She studied at Sir John Cass College in London and received a BFA from the Academia di Belle Arti in Rome. She has been a prolific producer of works, mostly in bronze resin, since establishing her home studio and gallery in Kingston in 1973.

Kay is represented in private collections worldwide and her sculptures have been presented, on behalf of the Jamaican people, to world leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, Carlos Menem, and Fidel Castro. She created a garden sculpture which was part of Jamaica's award-winning booth at the 1999 Chelsea Flower Show in London.

One of her first commissions, a life size figure of Christ, was done in the early 1970s for the church of San Silvestro in Rome. In Jamaica, her public commissions have included:

  • Figure of Hon. N.N. Nethersole for Bank of Jamaica (14 ft.)
